In a notable departure from previous models, Apple has introduced a significant physical change in its iPhone 16 Pro series with the addition of a new Capture Button, alongside the previously introduced Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro models. This latest innovation is expected to replace the traditional mute switch, offering users a versatile tool primarily focused on enhancing photography functions.
According to a recent report from The Information, the iPhone 16 series will incorporate a Capture Button designed to serve multiple purposes related to photography. This singular button will provide users with quick access to various features, notably including a zoom function and focus adjustments. Users can anticipate the ability to zoom in and out by simply clicking left and right on the iPhone 16 Capture Button.
The Capture Button is also rumored to be pressure-sensitive, allowing it to distinguish between light and heavy presses, each triggering distinct actions. For instance, a gentle press may facilitate focus adjustments, while a firmer press could serve as the shutter button for capturing photos.
Positioned on the right side of the upcoming iPhones, just below the power button, the Capture Button aims to streamline the photography experience for users. Given Apple’s trend of introducing novel features primarily to its higher-end Pro models, it is likely that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be equipped with the Capture Button.
Earlier reports have also shed light on the build and camera specifications of the iPhone 16 Pro models. Additionally, a separate disclosure unveiled that the base iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will boast 8GB of RAM and support WiFi 6E, showcasing a comprehensive upgrade in both design and functionality for Apple’s upcoming flagship smartphones.
