Rumors are circulating about the highly anticipated next generation of Apple’s iPad Air and iPad Pro, as leaks and speculation hint at significant upgrades for both devices. According to recent reports, Apple is planning to release two versions of each tablet model, departing from its previous release strategies.
One of the most exciting rumors is the expansion of the iPad Air’s size options, bringing it in line with the existing choices available for the Pro. The upcoming lineup is expected to include an 11-inch iPad Air, maintaining the dimensions of its predecessor, along with a new 12.9-inch variant measuring 280.6 x 214.9 x 6 mm.
As for the iPad Pro, the speculation suggests that the 11-inch model will see a slight reduction in size, measuring 249.7 x 177.5 x 5.1 mm compared to the previous model’s 247.6 x 178.5 x 5.9 mm dimensions. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is also rumored to undergo a refinement in form, becoming thinner at 281.5 x 215.5 x 5 mm, down from the current model’s 280.6 x 214.9 x 6.4 mm. This reduction in thickness is attributed to the Pro line’s transition to OLED displays, which not only enhances the overall aesthetics but also improves handling.
The anticipation for the release of these new iPads is growing, with accessory manufacturers already preparing for increased production of compatible cases. While it is expected that the iPad Pros will feature the powerful M3 chip, it remains uncertain whether the Airs will follow suit with the M3 or stick to the M2 chip.
Interestingly, Apple’s approach to unveiling these devices remains unclear, with the possibility of press release-only launches not ruled out, as has happened in the past.
