Google has recently rebranded its AI assistant Bard to Gemini, and the service has already been rolled out in various regions including the US, Latin America, Africa, Asia Pacific, and Canada. Gemini is set to replace Google Assistant on both Android and iOS platforms, with plans for further expansion to include headphones in the near future.
A recent examination of the beta version of the Google app (version 15.6) by 9to5Google revealed that the app contained a message indicating that the Gemini mobile app is actively working on expanding its availability to be accessible on headphones. Currently, many headphones feature a gesture or button that activates a voice assistant, and while Google Assistant is the default, Gemini is poised to replace it.
However, it is worth noting that despite the introduction of Gemini, some headphones, such as the Pixel Buds Pro, still function with the older Google Assistant service. This can be observed from the voice and capabilities of these headphones, according to sources.
Google has emphasized its primary focus on the smartphone app, which is yet to be launched in Europe, a key market for the company. Nevertheless, when Gemini extends its availability to audio wearables, users can expect shorter answers or customization options for playback speed.
With the rebranding of Bard to Gemini and the expansion of its availability to headphones, Google is aiming to provide a seamless and improved user experience across various devices and platforms.
