Microsoft has recently unveiled an exciting new feature for Windows 11 Insiders, allowing them to transform their Android phones or tablets into webcams. This innovative functionality enables users to utilize their Android devices running version 9.0 or higher as webcams during video conferencing sessions.
To take advantage of this feature, Windows 11 Insiders need to have the Link to Windows app installed on their Android device. Microsoft recommends using version 1.24012* or later of the app. Once the app is installed, users can easily set up their Android device as a webcam by following a few simple steps.
To begin, navigate to the Settings menu on your Windows 11 PC. From there, select the Bluetooth option. Look for your Android device in the list of available devices and establish a Bluetooth connection between your PC and Android device.
Once the connection is established, open your preferred video conferencing application on your PC. In the settings or preferences section of the app, locate the webcam settings. Here, you should see your Android device listed as an available webcam option. Select your Android device as the webcam source, and you’re all set!
With this new feature, Windows 11 Insiders can now leverage the cameras on their Android devices for high-quality video conferencing. Whether you’re using a smartphone or a tablet, this functionality provides a convenient and flexible solution for your video communication needs.
Note: *The specific version number may vary. Please ensure you have the latest version of the Link to Windows app installed on your Android device.
