Recent reports about Apple’s plans to unveil the OLED display of its highly anticipated iPad Pro have raised doubts. Early speculation pointed to an event on March 26 where Apple would unveil the OLED iPad Pro alongside improvements to the iPad Air lineup. However, lead analyst Mark Gurman dismissed these rumors, saying the March 26 deadline was “inaccurate”. Despite that denial, Gurman did not give a specific release date for the devices. Instead, he suggested vaguely that the new features could be unveiled in late March or early April, perhaps through a press release rather than a dedicated event.
Last year Apple did not launch any new iPads leading to a significant decline in their annual revenue for the iPad segment. While iPadOS delivers a consistent experience across the lineup models equipped with M-series chips stand out with features like Stage Manager and advanced camera hardware but the user experience remains largely the same across all models, albeit with different functions. With the upcoming models, Apple aims to make a clear distinction between the iPad Air, iPad mini, and other models.
Gurman also hinted that the new iPadOS 17.4 version of Apple will be releasing for the OLED iPad Pro. This upgraded build may bring additional enhancements and support for advanced features, however, the specifics of this change are currently unknown. Based on what Gurman has seen, the OLED iPad Pro will likely arrive a bit later than originally expected, in a late March to April timeframe. Supply constraints may have contributed to this delay, but no further details on the exact launch date have yet been released. The launch can be expected in April, with the product will be available for purchase soon after. However, the exact release date remains unclear until Apple makes the official announcement.
