As Microsoft gears up for its Windows on ARM event scheduled for May 20, Qualcomm is poised to revolutionize the processor landscape with its latest offering.
Leading the charge is the flagship Snapdragon X Elite, which also has a counterpart, the Snapdragon X Plus. Today, details of the answer chip have emerged.
Recently, the Snapdragon X Plus showed up in the Geekbench DirectML benchmark running on a device named OEMMN. Its naming leaves no room for ambiguity – it’s called unequivocally the Snapdragon X Plus or X1P64100.
This chip is powered by the Qualcomm Oryon CPU, which features an awesome 10-core process with a maximum clock speed of 3.42GHz. There are two clusters – one with a performance 6 and the other with a performance 4. This configuration sets it apart from the X Elite which has 12 of the same cores, two of which are clocked above 4.3GHz. Additionally, the X Plus integrates a built-in X65 modem, unlike the X Elite’s external modem.
The test machine flaunts 16GB of RAM and runs on Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview.
Meanwhile, speculation is that the device with the 10-core Snapdragon X Elite could be anyone other than the expected Microsoft Surface Pro 10 OLED model Microsoft unveiled an Intel Core Ultra-powered 2-in-1 variant on March 21 , but rumors suggest that the OLED iteration of ARM-based silicon will be available on May 20, coinciding with the AI event
The Surface Pro 10 OLED is said to come with a base configuration of 16GB of RAM along with storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB.
